Grace offers Sunday School from mid September through mid May every Sunday except festival Sundays, the Sundays near Christmas, and the first Sunday of the month, when a Brunch replaces our Learning Time.
Our Sunday School Director, Kristyn Malek, describes her approach to class time as follows:
I have opted not to use a formal curriculum. What I like to do is look at what the message is for the day and elaborate on that message in a way that does not 'preach' to the kids. I have found that if you keep it simple and share the message through everyday experiences the kids are much more likely to build upon the seeds of faith you planted.
I know myself how hard it is to juggle schedules today; there are so many ways we and our children are being pulled every hour of every day. It is almost impossible to find the time to sit back, and relax and breath. What I would like to offer you is those two things on Sunday mornings immediately following service. An hour to spend having a coffee or tea or simply taking a walk around the block knowing your children are taking a breather as well.
Of course, at the heart of it all is God's Holy Spirit - leading all of our teaching and learning. After all, Jesus tells us, "It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall all be taught by God.'" (John 6:45) Thank you, God, for all the learning and fun. And thank you students and teachers, as well!
